We are currently open for submissions, but we oftentimes have to close because we get so many submissions that we have to take a couple of months reading and editing what we have.
o The criteria for the show are:
Writers must be either from Arkansas originally (if they live elsewhere) or living
here now.
Stories can be set anywhere in the world.
Stories must be true and told in the first person.
Must be your story (not your mother's, grandfather's, friend's).

Literary devices and techniques encouraged.
They must be stories (narratives) with conflict, rising action, climax, and resolution or hint of resolution.
" This is one of the things that people have the most problem with. o What I suggest is looking at one specific incident instead several. o Look at the change (which is crucial in narrative).
It's your story, so presumably you're the protagonist.
So, at what point did you change (inwardl'y"_outwardly, or both)?
This is called the crisis, climax, or epiphany (which literally means "awakening").
o Everything in the story must build to this point.
" Sometimes people will send pieces that are not in narrative format, and we'll work with the writer to help restructure and revise to fit the format for the show.
Material should be G- or PG-rated. The radio station won't air work with profanity, explicit sexual content, or scatological references. Material that is overtly critical of a particular race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation will not be accepted. The FCC is very strict, and you should take this into consideration when submitting.
KUAR/KLRE will acquire the rights for broadcast and simultaneous live audio streaming over the facilities of K U AR/KLRE in perpetuity. You (the writer) retain all publication rights, both hardcopy and electronic. For more information, see the website.
All stories accepted for the show will be eligible for inclusion in the yearly printed anthology (if desired).
We accept email submissions ONLY.
We welcome group submissions for special shows (such as students, teachers, firefighters, doctors, veterans, etc). We are always looking for interesting shows. Please contact us if you have an idea for a special show.
